The Financial Times reported yesterday that Donald Trump had resigned from the board of Trump Entertainment who operate three casinos in Atlantic City USA.
The company has been badly hit by the downturn in casino gambling in the recession, and has debts of $1.7bn. Trump, who owns 28% of the shares in the Group, is of course the man behind the controversial and high profile 36 hole golf and resort on the Menie Estate in North East Scotland.
This has already started the golf industry speculating about the future of this development. Landscape Juice is one interested party who has already posed the question.
I have no doubt that this hiccup in Mr Trump’s finances will not affect the Menie project as his holdings in Trump Entertainment equals less than one percent of his net worth.
So in my opinion we in golf can look forward to following the actual development of the ‘Trump Links’.
